Puppy Parties

Puppy Parties ......

" In my opinion, these well-managed and structured opportunities lay the foundation not only for all future obedience training, but they provide a positive opportunity for young dogs to 'talk their own language' in a safe & supportive environment, "  Jack Russell, Professional Gundog Trainer

Puppy Parties will take place on Monday evenings at 6.30pm at Sipson Community Centre, Sipson Way, Sipson , UB7 0DD.

We have set up our puppy parties in response to the rise of dog aggression in our local parks. Since January we have had in excess of 80 puppies, all of which have left us with excellent communication skills, and to my knowledge have not been involved in any form of aggression.

Each party will last for 4 consecutive weeks. Early socialisation of puppies and the teaching of good behaviours is paramount at an early age, ideally between the age of 8 and 24 weeks. Good socialisation will produce a well-behaved adult dog.

Therefore all our puppies play off lead where they can practise their social skills in a controlled environment, which they can then use through their life. For the more timid of puppies  we segregate into our puppy pen until they are confident enough to play. This normally takes about two weeks.

Anything a puppy experiences during these early weeks will become part of its life (known as ‘the critical period of socialisation’). After that age, unfamiliar objects, noises and experiences can cause a fearful response (sometimes extreme) and could ultimately lead to aggression or fearfulness towards humans or other dogs.

We encourage this to be treated as a family event, and welcome children to come along and play with the puppies. There will also be adult dogs in attendance one night during the course.

Members

For the health and wellbeing of the other dogs, puppies must be fully vaccinated and proof of this must be brought along on the first night. No vaccination certificate will mean you will not be allowed to join the course.
